Five board games from the Middle Ages, including backgammon's own ancestors. In 1983 archaeologists digging the Norman castle at Gloucester found a complete gaming set from about the year 1100 at the bottom of a rubbish pit: a board of 24 points and thirty counters of red deer skull and antler, each carved with a different scene. This app is five games that board could have hosted, reconstructed from the manuscripts that describe them.

Ludus Anglicorum, the English game of Chaucer's day. Pyf, the Roman and Byzantine game. Irish, the direct parent of backgammon. Brandubh, from a tenth century yew plank pulled out of an Irish lake. Tablut, recorded by Linnaeus in Lapland in 1732.
